“A Friend” is a captivating abstract portrait, created using acrylic, oil pastels, pen, and newspaper collage. Through its predominantly greyscale palette and layers of texture that hint at rich history, an air of mystique is created as if it has weathered the passage of time.
Amidst the smoky backdrop, bursts of colourful oil pastel emerge, adding dynamic contrast to the subdued grayscale tones. These vibrant marks, etched onto the canvas with spontaneity, evoke a sense of raw expression and vitality.
At the heart of the abstract lies a portrait, “a friend”, sketched with a pen in my deliberate imperfect style.
